Announcing the New “Live @ Tikvah”!

Something is always being discussed at the Tikvah Fund. Sometimes the focus is the great challenges faced by contemporary Jewry—from security threats to Israel to the problem of assimilation to the future of the haredi-secular divide. Sometimes the discussion is about more enduring questions—the meaning of war, the morality of capitalism, the yearning for God. As two young men concerned with the Jewish future and convinced that ideas matter, we have gained much from the Tikvah classroom. Now we hope to help pass along the best of what happens here to as many people as possible. This, in a nutshell, is what “Live @ Tikvah” is all about.

The premise is simple: More than just the lucky few who can attend Tikvah’s seminars in New York and Jerusalem should be able to listen to what goes on inside these walls. To this end, we are going to use this “Live @ Tikvah” platform to share some of the highlights of Tikvah’s conversations, lectures, and publications. Several times a day you should find something new and thought-provoking in this space. Posts will sometimes feature topical commentary and sometimes musings on great texts and ideas. Often posts will excerpt a few minutes (generally no more than ten) of back-and-forth discussion from an institute or seminar. Those excerpts will be presented as an audio file you can stream or download for on-demand listening. Some posts will feature full-length videos of lectures or panels, while yet more will point to valuable work being done in Tikvah’s publications—The Jewish Review of BooksMosaic, and Mida—or writings by Tikvah alumni.

Like Tikvah, what you find here will be an eclectic mix of the very best insights on a wide array of subjects. A typical day might feature a detailed presentation on American options in Syria, an inquiry into the theology of Maimonides, a remark on how Judaism thinks about economic life, and a back-and-forth on the political lessons of the Haggadah. Check in throughout the day for the latest. You can also follow us on Twitter or add www.tikvahfund.org/feed to your RSS feed reader to find out when we have something new to share.

We hope you’ll enjoy,

Tom Wilson and Jeremy Rozansky
Editors of “Live @ Tikvah”
