The Key to a Jewish Life?

What is the key to a Jewish life? Perhaps it is the simple yet underappreciated act of giving. Philanthropy is more than just money. It is an attitude. Tikkun Olam is more than just fixing the world. It is a mindset of responsibility. When we think of charity, we typically think about the effect we have on the world through the results we produce. But we should also consider how charitable behavior changes the mind and soul of the benefactor. This course delves into how to become an all-encompassing giver, looking at the philosophy behind giving and assessing the practical applications of an authentically Jewish understanding of charity. This course will incorporate philosophy, psychology, kabbalah, and Jewish ethics, all with a view to understanding our role as moral actors in the modern world.
