Image for Jewish Bioethics: Torah Principles in the 21st Century

From a Torah perspective, Judaism provides not only guidelines for everyday living; it also provides guidance in how to make life-changing decisions. In the realm of bioethics and health care delivery, those decisions necessitate an understanding of both scientific data as well as Torah values that lead to a proper understanding of how to approach difficult questions. This course begins with an introductory examination of how the Torah mandates a clinician’s duty to treat and a patient’s duty to maintain one’s health. It will then explore a number of topics related to technological advances in medicine and the consequences that those advances have on caring for patients.
