Image for Pathways to God: Jewish Identity in the Thought of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks

What is Judaism really all about? What does it mean to be Jewish and live a Jewish life? Is Judaism a personal code of ethics, a spiritual path to connection to God, or the guide to achieving the national mission of the Jewish people? (Clue: it is all three!) In this course, we will explore these questions, and many more, through both classical Jewish texts and the writings of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks. Rabbi Sacks, who passed away in November 2020, was one of the best known modern Jewish thinkers. He was rightly revered among Jews and non-Jews around the world. We will study excerpts from the Ten Paths to God curriculum, developed in close consultation with Rabbi Sacks by Dr. Daniel Rose, who will teach this course.
