Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. A long-time professor of classics, he has written extensively on Greek, agrarian, and military history as well as on contemporary culture and politics. His books include The Father of Us All: War and History, Ancient and Modern (2010); Carnage and Culture: Landmark Battles in the Rise of Western Power(2001); A War like No Other: How the Athenians and Spartans Fought the Peloponnesian War (2005); The Western Way of War (1989); and The Wars of the Ancient Greeks and Their Invention of Western Military Culture (1999).
