Victor Davis Hanson is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. A long-time professor of classics, he has written extensively on Greek, agrarian, and military history as well as on contemporary culture and politics. His books include The Father of Us All: War and History, Ancient and Modern (2010); Carnage and Culture: Landmark Battles in the Rise of Western Power(2001); A War like No Other: How the Athenians and Spartans Fought the Peloponnesian War (2005); The Western Way of War (1989); and The Wars of the Ancient Greeks and Their Invention of Western Military Culture (1999). Essays, editorials, and reviews have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the International Herald Tribune, National Review, American Heritage, Policy Review, Commentary, the Wilson Quarterly, the Weekly Standard, the Daily Telegraph, and elsewhere. Currently he is a syndicated columnist for Tribune Media Services and a weekly columnist for National Review Online and Pajamas Media.
