MAIMONIDES SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Session #1: June 23–July 5 | Session #2: July 28–August 8
Check out the Tikvah Scholars page!

The Tikvah Institute for High School Students seeks to create an inclusive and vibrant space for Maimonides Scholars to explore the Jewish tradition and Jewish ritual. Students will be housed in a Yale dormitory building a short walk from the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale. There will be space throughout the program for students to participate in the rhythms of Jewish life including optional prayer times and Shabbat services. While some Jewish communal activities (like Shabbat meals) will be shared by all students, prayer is always optional and non-religious alternatives are always available.

On Shabbat evening, students will attend a musical Kabbalat Shabbat service and share in a Shabbat meal. On Saturday morning, students can choose between an orthodox service, an egalitarian service, or a non-religious text study.

While we seek to create a space where all students can grow Jewishly and encounter new traditions, beliefs, and practices, we recognize that our students will be coming from diverse backgrounds and we endeavor to create a Jewish community that respects our students’ traditions and practices.
