The application linked on these pages is only for the Tikvah Overseas Students Institute. The same application is used for both TOS programs (The Jewish Political Condition and Jews, Morality, and the West) and students may elect to apply to one or both of the programs.
Eligibility: The program is open to English-speaking foreign students studying in yeshivot, seminaries, or other gap-year programs in Israel.
Deadline: Applications may be submitted until October 11th, 2019, but applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before that date to ensure a preferred interview slot over the course of September or early October.
Interview: Applicants will be e-mailed to set up an interview date once they have completed their online application. During the interview, the students will have a chance to speak about their hobbies, interests, and aspirations. They will also be asked about their opinions on various current events, political debates, or intellectual queries. There are no right or wrong answers—we promise! Students are simply expected to articulate their thoughts on a range of matters.
Interviews take place in a central Jerusalem location. Early applicants may receive an interview at their yeshiva or midrasha in the week before the application deadline. Please apply early so you may be eligible for this convenient option.
