Image for Hard Life Choices:<br> What Can Philosophy and Literature Teach Us?

Using Hugo Adam Bedau’s Making Mortal Choices as our central text, this course will provide students with a wide range of literary explorations and philosophical cases designed to help young people explore how we make difficult choices. What standards do we use to judge right and wrong? What do we do when our standards conflict with those of others? What do we do when there seems to be no right choice at all? Faced with life’s most difficult dilemmas, students will explore the kind of thinking we engage in when we try to confront them.
