Date: Sunday, Aug. 15 | 7:00 PM–8:30 PM EDT

The tale of Job presents the Bible’s grappling with the eternal of problem of theodicy, the problem of justifying God’s ways to man, especially the problem of evil. Job, the consummate righteous man, suddenly finds his life in tatters. The interactions with his friends set the standards for the sundry approaches to evil in this world. Complementing this story is an off-cited image of the heavenly court with Satan advocating a harsher hand. This seminar will explore Job‘s imagery, focusing particularly on the message the book is attempting to impart to the reader about God’s role within this world.
