Uzi Arad, Professor of Government at IDC’s Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy, and Strategy, served as National Security Advisor to Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu and Head of the Israeli National Security Council between 2009 and 2011. During Netanyahu’s first term as Prime Minister, Dr. Arad was his Foreign Policy Advisor (1997-1999). Between 1975 and 1999 Arad served with Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence service, where he held senior positions at home and abroad, his last position being Director of the Intelligence Division.

Prior to his career in government, Arad was a Professional Staff Member at the Hudson Institute in New York and a Fellow at Tel Aviv University’s Center for Strategic Studies. He received his M.A. (1973) and Ph.D. (1975) degrees in International Relations from Princeton University, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar.
